Our Wedding! Part 5: The Details

There are SO many details that go into a wedding. Of course you never realized this until you have to plan each and every little item! I had the flowers down, but when trying to remember table numbers, escort cards (which didn’t end up getting made… you have to know to cut items!), cake toppers, candles, lights, props for the photo booth and all the little items you normally get when you rent a venue (plate, tables, chairs OH MY!) it can be overwhelming.

One thing I have been saving for years we this bottle of champagne. It was given to me on my 21st birthday by my coworkers / friends and I have always wanted it to be for a special occasion. Our wedding day was the perfect time! Chad hates champagne so I enjoyed it with my girls while getting ready! And the box was perfect for the ring pictures… Be Fabulous! What we all should strive for in marriage, a fabulous pair!

We did have a toast; champagne for most people, mountain dew for Chad. The glasses we used at the reception are VERY special to me. My mom gave it me for our wedding. She used them when she married my father and they were given to her by my grandma great. They are very delicate and have been moved around for years packed in a box. Many of the dishes in the same box have broken over the years but these two glasses have survived!

My dress was a steal! I knew I wanted a knee length vintage dress and I knew the best place to so would be ebay! When I saw this dress I automatically knew it was my wedding dress. I had to have it! The size looked like it would be slightly small and I decided it did not matter, I would figure something out! When it arrived it was better than I imagined AND it fit me PERFECTLY! There were a few alterations I wanted to have fixed (hem line, lowering the neck and opening the arm holes slightly, buttons added to the back) but nothing major.

Throughout the wedding we wanted to have personal details that we loved. The guestbook was our engagement picture, the table numbers matched the invites and of course the Dodger were at the wedding… in multiple places! We placed a box of personalized m&ms on each plate. Chad was a big part of this choice. He wanted the custom printed pieces to say “Go Dodgers” which fit in perfectly with the others that said “Chad and Jacki” and of course our wedding date “March 18th 2011”.

Besides the flowers, each table was filled with various height pillar candles for even more light. Since I had purchased the linens instead of renting them we placed the candles directly on the table. This did create a bit of mess! Was dripped on a few of the overlays however I did not mind… they work great as delivery stuffing now! The plates were collected during our engagement and now we are enjoying them every day! We did need them since we had NO matching plates before. The plates were mismatched but were all in our wedding colors (black, white, gray) in various patterns and shapes.

The cake was also a calibration between Chad and I. When we met with Duncan and were going through his books we found a cake with the black swirls. Chad loved the look but I wanted a very simple plain cake. I felt the swirls would be too busy if they were all over the cake.  It really was not that big of a deal to me so of course I was on board with the swirls. When I met with Gigi, whose cake was AMAZING, we settled on the swirls being about half way up each layer. I love how it ended up coming out!

The main thing Chad was adamant about was the cake topper! He had seen the custom bobble heads from and other wedding and thought they were the coolest things ever. I started to look into them and agreed they were a fun element that would be perfect for us. We even had a dodger hat added to the groom!  Such a fun element! I am very glad we had them done!!

I know there were even more details but don’t want to bore you any more!
